ATTENTION RESIDENTS AND VISITORS - HIGH WAVE AND RIP CURRENT ALERT IN THE PACIFIC
National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC), brings to your attention an important safety notice.
From May 26th to 28th, 2023, we are experiencing unusually high waves and powerful rip currents in the Pacific Ocean.
The areas under particular scrutiny include:
Eastern Pacific: Gulf and Bay of Panama with waves rising between 12 to 15 meters.
Central Pacific: The coasts of Los Santos, Veraguas, and Coclé with waves peaking between 14 to 19 meters.
Western Pacific: Gulf of Chiriqui with waves ranging between 13 to 14 meters.
The Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMHPA) indicates that maritime conditions require extra vigilance due to this surge in wave height and the presence of rip currents that could pose risk periods for different activities in coastal marine areas.
For your safety, SINAPROC urges everyone - bathers, boaters, and all who enjoy our beautiful Panama coastal regions - to exercise extreme caution and follow security recommendations while at sea or on the beach.
